Rugby

Rugby is a year-round, county-based athletic club hosted at Ascend Leadership Academy with both a Boys and Girls team. Sandhills Sharks Rugby is open to all students from Lee and Harnett counties with over 30+ athletes from ALA participating, and several others from the surrounding high schools.

Rugby Information

In the Fall and Spring, they compete in the North Carolina Youth Rugby Union against club teams from Raleigh, Charlotte, Clayton, Southern Pines, and more. During the Winter, they compete against other top-ranked High School programs throughout North Carolina.

While several students choose Rugby as their main sport, many others compete in other sports throughout the year while also participating in Rugby.
