Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to pay tuition to attend Ascend Leadership Academy (ALA)?
No. ALA is a tuition free public charter school. This means that students attend for free just like traditional public schools.
How are NC public charter schools managed?
Currently there are well over 160 public charter schools in the state of North Carolina. Each charter school is managed by an independent board of directors who make local policies to govern the school. This means that each charter school is independent from the policies of the local school district. However, all charter schools are accountable to the NC Department of Public Instruction and the NC Office of Charter Schools.
What grade levels does ALA serve?
ALA will serve students in grades 6-12. In year 1, we will serve approximately 160 students in grades 6 and 7. For a detailed description of our enrollment plan, please visit the "Enrollment Plan" page of this website.
