Important Information for Applicants

Enrollment Requirements

North Carolina residency is the only requirement to apply to Ascend Leadership Academy.

Grade Levels for 2021-22

ALA will accept applications from students who will be in 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th graders during the 2021-22 school year.

Lottery Process

If ALA receives more student applications than spots available, we are required by law to host a public random lottery to determine which students shall be accepted.  ALA's charter allows for approximately 80 students per grade level.

Lottery Priorities

Ascend Leadership Academy may give enrollment priority under the following circumstances as stated in G.S. 115C-218.45.

  1. Children of Full-Time Employees

  2. Siblings of Current ALA Students

  3. A student enrolled in a charter school that does not offer the student's next grade level.

  4. Family Surname entered once (sibling applying)

Due to COVID-19 regulations. ALA will not host traditional enrollment tours per usual.  In lieu of enrollment tours ALA adminisration will host virtual events for prospective families. Stay tuned to ALA's website for more specific information about these events.
